Big Rap Moments of 2012: President Barack Obama Gives a Shout Out to Young Jeezy
President Barack Obama has had a huge connection with the hip-hop community, more than any other Commander-in-Chief before him. During the annual White House Correspondents Association Dinner in April, Obama took off his serious hat and played up his charm and cool, dropping a quick reference to one of his favorite rappers. “In my first term I sang Al Green," the Head of State stated. "In my second term I’m going with Young Jeezy."
Jeezy, who recorded his prolific record 'My President' with Nas on the day the President was officiated as the Democratic nominee in 2008, was immediately flattered by the major shout out. “Shout out to @Barack Obama,” he tweeted. “You know they love the snowman in the white house. #Turntup,” he adds to his short rant. Upon Obama's re-election in November, the rapper returned the favor and released the victory song 'We Done It Again.'
