Young Jeezy, Doughboyz Cashout & YG, ‘Boss Yo Life Up Gang’ – Mixtape Review
Young Jeezy as "El Jefe" showcases some major rap talent alongside his CTE roster with the release of his latest mixtape, ‘Boss Yo Life Up Gang.’
The project, hosted by DJ Drama and Don Cannon, provides a listen to who's next to rise in the camp: Doughboyz Cashout and YG.
‘Boss Yo Life Up Gang’ brings a mix of uptempo beats and some laid-back tracks that will allow you to sit back in the car and cruise while lighting up.
One of the first tracks on the project is ‘Bravo’ from Doughboyz Cashout and YG. The song itself can definitely help out the twerk movement as they ask the ladies to “Bend over and make the ass clap.” If you ever wondered what would happen if you mixed Juvenile’s ‘Back That Azz Up’ with Ying Yang Twins' ‘Say I Yi Yi,’ this is your track.
Los Angeles' own Nipsey Hussle hops on ‘Shame On You,' a hypnotizing beat on which they if you're not poppin' bottles and messing with models, you should be ashamed.
Those looking for new Jeezy material can get a preview on this project with two solo tracks: ‘No Pressure,’ and ‘Talk That.’ He also hops on songs with the other two group members for ‘Chris Paul,’ ‘Hungry,’ ‘Living My Dream’ and ‘My N----z.’
‘Chris Paul’ is one of the best songs on the mixtape as Jeezy celebrates his achievements. "I ball hard, Chris Paul bitches," he boasts. Doughboyz Cashout holds his own on the track as well, as he speaks on wearing Versace and drinking out of Cartier glasses and enjoying the good life.
‘F--- You’ brings a more West Coast sound. The beat sounds something from a 'Beverly Hills Cop' movie. This track is a message for all the haters and those with sucker attitudes.
Jeezy again turns up on ‘My N----z’ with YG and Rich Homie Quan as they sample Lil Wayne’s words, “I'ma ride for my motherf---in' n----s, most likely I'ma die with the finger on the trigger.” These three sound natural on the beat as they rap about staying true to their crew.
Overall, ‘Boss Yo Life Up Gang’ is a good reintroduction to not only Jeezy, but allows his artists to shine by themselves. Plus, there are solid beats. This project is a perfect way to round out a summer jammed with good music and is worth a listen for any fan of Jeezy and his CTE crew.
