Snoop Lion Answers Rastafarian Criticism, Rohan Marley Gives Support

Ever since Snoop Lion transformed himself into a Rasta shaman, some critics have questioned the legitimacy of it. Apparently, reggae legend Bunny Wailer has a bone to pick with Mr. Lion.

Wailer is not feeling Snoop's documentary, 'Reincarnated,' which chronicles the veteran rapper's spiritual journey into Rasta culture while traveling to Jamaica. Wailer believes that Snoop is being fraudulent as a Rastafarian and has failed to meet the "contractual, moral and verbal commitments" of the Rastafari community.

In addition, the Ethio-Africa Diaspora Union Millennium Council reportedly demanded that Snoop stop using "Lion" and pay the "financial and moral support" they claim he committed and issue a public apology.

In an interview with LargeUp, Snoop Lion doesn't seemed bothered by the controversy and insists that he and Wailer are together as one in the Rastafarian community. "You know one thing about Bunny Wailer, is that if you ain't real, he ain't gonna be around you. So the dynamics of what we were doing and what accomplished and what we are as a unit as a team brought that together," he said.

"The spirit definitely brought that together cause that's my big brother and he needed to hit me with some information that was off camera that wasn't captured," Snoop continued. "It was information that me and him shared that was private and that was special and there was some seeds that I know will continue to grow."

Meanwhile, Bob Marley's son, Rohan Marley is fully supportive of Snoop being a Rastafarian and says that his late father would have supported him as well.

"Our father's name should not even be mentioned in this issue because like a true Rasta, he would have embraced Snoop's reincarnation and welcomed the positivity," he tells TMZ. "Why condemn a man for his love of Rastafari and Bob Marley?"

"We have been cool with Snoop before his transformation and he will continue to have our blessings and support," he adds.

So there you have it. If the Marley family thinks it's cool, then let Snoop continue his spiritual and musical journey in the Rastafarian community. Yeah mon!

Snoop Lion's 'Reincarnated' documentary and its soundtrack of the same name are due in February.
