There came a point in hip-hop when people were so hell-bent on choosing the real “King of N.Y.” It began with a fight for the best borough, but when Nas and Jay-Z decided to engage in beef, it was more than a Queens vs. Brooklyn thing. Lyrical dominance, shared women, bragging rights and more came into play during this rap feud. Fans even took sides, prompting casual discussion over which emcee was best to turn into arguments on the neighborhood corner and on the basketball court. Huge tracks like Jay’s 'Takeover' and Nas’ 'Ether' were the result of their conflict, and stand as some of the best rap material created to date. It’s good that peace was made, but at least we got some great music out of it.
