Jay Z Deletes His Instagram Page After One Day, Wishes Michael Jackson Happy Birthday
Grand opening, grand closing. Jay Z joined Instagram for one day and then abruptly terminated his account. The rap mogul doesn't usually engage in social media but made an exception on Saturday (Aug. 30) but then quickly changed his mind.
The 45-year-old rhymer made his first Instagram post under the screen name HovSince96 and paid tribute to his late friend Michael Jackson on what would’ve been his 57th birthday. Jay shared a photo of him wearing a New York Knicks Jersey while embracing the King of Pop. In the caption, it reads, “Happy Birthday to the King! This may be my first and last post.”
The photo op was taken during Hov’s appearance at Hot 97’s Summer Jam event in 2001. The former Roc-A-Fella Records artist brought MJ out onstage during his concert performance. This is also where Jay Z clowned Prodigy of Mobb Deep with photos of him dressed as a ballerina. Ah, memories.
There’s no official word on why Jay Z deleted his Instagram account so suddenly. Then again, Hov is really not a social media maven like his wife Beyonce. He sporadically tweets on his Twitter page, so we shouldn't expect him to be posting his meals on the 'Gram anytime soon.
Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
