In 2007, Soulja Boy, then a newbie at 16, took over the radio waves and club speakers with his song 'Crank That.'

He became one of the first rappers to get popular off of his strong following from the Internet. Artists today still follow his format.

Soulja Boy, unlike some of his other peers from the snap music scene, was able to capitalize off his movement and had a few other hits but none close to the popularity of 'Crank That.'

The song reached high annoyance levels by the time it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. There was really no running from the crank that dance. So listeners had no choice but to jump in and snap and roll to it.
