Jennifer Hudson may not have won her season of 'American Idol' -- that honor eventually went to Fantasia Barrino in 2004, for Season 3 -- but she is making her grand return to the show. She has reportedly been drafted to serve as a judge for Season 13 in 2014.

E! News reports that multiple sources have confirmed the news that J. Hud is onboard for the show. While hers is remembered as one of the most shocking eliminations in 'Idol' history, Hudson eventually went on to win an Oscar, thereby securing the last and heartiest laugh. Clearly, she doesn't hold a grudge and proves you can go home again.

Given the dipping ratings that 'Idol' experienced during the whole of Season 12 in 2013, the producers at the still-successful show are looking to revamp and revitalize with a new look on the panel. It's said that a downsized-to-three, all-alum panel also featuring Adam Lambert or Kelly Clarkson, is desired.

"It's 'Idol' alums bringing in the next generation," says one Fox source.

It makes sense to have the superstar alums return as judges, since they can offer the hopefuls a unique perspective, since they've been there and done that.
