New York Public Library's Schomburg Center has a Tumblr page and an image posted on it May 7 has sent the hip-hop world into disbelief. The black-and-white photo, shot in 1939, showcases a man in Harlem that bears a striking resemblance to Jay-Z.

Now it's no coincidence that this picture was posted on the Schomburg's blog. With the remake of 'The Great Gatsby,' which takes place in the 1930s, in theaters now and Hov serving as executive producer of the film's soundtrack, this was a good time as any to release the photo.

Websites like Buzzfeed and Reddit (spotted by the Gothamist) have helped make the photo go viral, much to our chagrin. The uproar over this shot has everyone wondering if Hov is some sort of time traveler.

So could Jay-Z have a long lost uncle that he doesn't know about? Maybe. Is he a time-traveling vampire? No. Is there too much hoopla over this photo? Yes.

Now Jay-Z isn't the first celebrity to be accused of being immortal. Nicolas Cage was outed by a conspiracy theorist who thought he was an ancient blood sucker after an 1870 portrait of a Connecticut man that looked like the actor surfaced.

Then someone discovered an old 1860 photo of a man that resembled John Travolta, which was reportedly up for auction.

So what do you think? Is Jay-Z a time traveler from the 1930s? Or does he have a doppleganger? Tell us in the comments below.
