Today marks the official launch of TheDrop.fm's R&B Sound Off, where we take two new songs and let you decide which one advances to the next round to ultimately land in our Hall of Fame. Lyrics, production and artistry are all factors in the artist's victory.

In our first R&B Sound Off, veteran crooner Donell Jones and lauded singer Chrisette Michele go head-to-head with songs that have similar titles.

Jones' 'Forever,' which debuted last week, is the first single to come from his forthcoming album of the same name. The 39-year-old Chicago native centers on a woman whom he wants to be around 24/7, 365. "Baby you're my inspiration, angel with wings / You put your life on hold to be with me / I can’t live a day without cha," he sings on the slow-riding groove.

Michele offers 'A Couple of Forevers,' a classic R&B track that will find its way on her new LP, 'Better,' due April 30. She belts out soothing vocals that talk of a love that will last the test of time. "It can get crazy but not for us," Michele coos.

Will Donell Jones climb to the top? Or will Chrisette Michele dominate this Sound Off? Vote for your favorite track in the poll below. Remember you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. ET.

Rules of R&B Sound Off

Two R&B artists sound off against each other each week. The triumphant artist goes on to compete in the next R&B Sound Off. If an artist wins four straight R&B Sound Offs, the song will be honored as immortal in TheDrop.fm R&B Sound Off Hall of Fame.
