Chrisette Michele is a successful Grammy Award-winning R&B songbird, but a year ago, she wanted to quit the music biz because she felt she didn't have any control over her career.

In the March/April 2013 issue of Kontrol magazine, the 'Be OK' singer revealed why she contemplated hanging up the mic.

"My weakest moment in my musical career came when I almost decided to leave the industry completely because I didn’t know that I could say no and do things on my own," she says. "I relied on the ‘experts’ to tell me what I needed and I thought maybe I wasn’t strong enough to say no."

Five years later, Michele is more confident and preparing to release her fourth album, 'Better,' which arrives April 30.

The 30-year-old chanteuse looks gorgeous in her cover photo, which was photographed by Allen Cooley. Michele is dressed in an all-white gown with a lace top that reveals an intricate tattoo on her arm. During the photo shoot, the New York native also donned an all-black lace mini-dress and tan stilettos.

The 2013 March/April issue of Kontrol magazine, featuring Chrisette Michele on the cover, arrives on newsstands March 4.
