R&B singer and songwriter Keyshia Cole took New York City by storm at Beacon Theatre last night (April 4) for her headlining Woman to Woman tour with support from Chrisette Michele and Mateo.

Before Keyshia Cole hit the stage, Beacon Theatre turned into a hip-hop dance-off as the crowd didn’t let the small rows confine them -- they danced and sang in their seats and in the aisles. When she did grace the stage, Cole emerged with wavy blonde locks and a tight pink outfit. Even though she’s from the West Coast, her stage backdrop of Brooklyn brownstones and flaming graffiti garbage cans put her right at home in New York and for good reason.

Fans sang to ‘Shoulda Let You Go,’ ‘I Changed My Mind,’ ‘I Should Have Cheated’ and many more. Cole and her vibrant backup dancers kicked things up in the middle of the set with moves supported by a reggae medley. The production of the set was creative and very personal as it gave fans a look into her personality. The songstress is truly a conductor of energy whether she sang upbeat songs or slower jams, her commanding performance resonated with each fan.

Grammy Award-winning performer Chrisette Michele gave a mind-blowing performance in her hometown of New York and she even had a few of her high school teachers in the audience cheering her on. Michele and her backup singers donned outfits of simple jeans, a T-shirt and stunning glittery pumps but it was her voice that was the most spectacular part of the performance.

Her vocal abilities take over the mind, body and soul as she can soothe thoughts one second and awaken others the next with her high range. The exquisite ceiling of Beacon Theater was no match to contain the height of her melodies. She was backed by an incredible band, which featured a drummer who would put Animal from the Muppets to shame and a guitarist who would make the likes of Jimi Hendrix very proud. Needless to say, Chrisette Michele will be headlining Beacon Theater with her band very soon.

Mateo opened up the show with his heaven-reaching falsetto. He had the hearts of ladies melting with his combination of soul and swagger. The crooner worked the stage and serenaded the first row, then hopped off stage to sing to the crowd. The only complaint about his performance is that it was far too short.
