Now this is insane. Ten years ago, Nas had the crazy idea to hang a fake Jay-Z doll in effigy during a 2002 performance at Summer Jam, an annual event held by New York City radio station Hot 97. The two powerhouse rappers were embroiled in a heated lyrical war that led to them one-upping each other at different Summer Jam concerts.

The creepy video features a special effects creators detailing exactly how they were going to pull off a fake hanging of a life-size Jay-Z mannequin onstage. Luckily, Hot 97 caught wind of Nas’ crazy stunt and quickly shut him down. Angered by the organizers’ decision, Nas went to rival NYC station Power 105.1 and delivered his now infamous radio rant.

Thankfully, Nas and Jay-Z buried the hatchet and performed together in unity at Power 105.1's Powerhouse: Operation Takeover event in 2005. We're glad that someone had the good sense to not let a fake hanging take place on any hip-hop stage.
