Cee Lo Green Speaks on Andre 3000’s Stage Fright, Lack of New Music [Video]
Andre 3000 got our hopes up and then unintentionally crushed them again when he denied reports saying he was releasing an album in early 2014. Cee Lo Green gave insight on the OutKast rapper's actions when he stopped by MTV's 'RapFix Live.' earlier this week.
Cee Lo, who's getting ready for the release of Goodie Mob's 'Age Against the Machine' LP on Aug. 27, said Andre's lack of solo releases has a lot to do with his reported stage fright.
"He just said he had a severe case of stage fright and just kind of been away from the game and didn't know if he could truly live up," Cee Lo shares. "He just said he was bothered by this bar that had been set and maybe he wants to do something different. He'll always be his worse competition, his worse critic and maybe he don't want to live up to what people think he should do."
The rapper-singer is a significantly credible source because he's known Andre 3000 since they were in third grade, and they're both part of the Dungeon Family music collective. Cee Lo also wasn't sure when a solo album was going to happen, but implied that it's going to be different than what the public is used to hearing.
“He’s always been exceptional and ahead of his time anyway,” Cee Lo says. “So anything he decides to do, next year or the year after that, we’ll still be catching with what’s on his mind.”
Andre 3000 is currently at work playing Jimi Hendrix in the guitarist's upcoming biopic.
