Robin Thicke is riding high. The crooner recently enjoyed his first No. 1 hit atop the Billboard Hot 100 charts with 'Blurred Lines,' but he explains that it was actually low album sales that may have gotten him there.

Robin spoke to about the dismal sales of his 'Love After War' LP, which caused him to stop producing his own music and enlist some heavyhitters.

“I’ve always written and produced my own music,” he said. “My last album didn’t sell very well -- in fact, not at all. I thought to myself, ‘Maybe I’m just being selfish and I want all the credit and I want everybody to love me and know how great I am and all this BS.’ And then I realized, this time, I’m not going to do it all on my own. I’m going to hire some of the great hitmakers in the business and try to make some music everybody can enjoy instead of just my small fanbase.”

'Blurred Lines' features production from the likes of, Timbaland and Dr. Luke. IThe project arrives July 30.
