J. Cole is celebrating the release of his new album, 'Born Sinner,' today, but a creepy fan dampened the day with a social media blackmail.

TMZ shares the scary tweet, which shows a photo of a man pointing a gun at a young girl. "@JColeNC retweet me and I'll buy Born Sinner. DOn't retweet me and I'll kill my lil sister," the accompanying post reads.

The man later rescinded the statement, saying that it was a joke and the gun was just a BB gun. "Wildest s--- I ever seen on twitter," J. Cole tweeted in response to the startling image.

Fans (or stans) have been using Twitter as a vehicle to get artists' attention for some time. Last year, a fan hacked Bow Wow's profile and demanded a bunch of things from the rapper and '106 & Park' host, including 10K (presumably $10,000). The hacker appeared to be a wannabe rapper who wanted attention.
