Erykah Badu has been eclectic since her debut in 1997. The Dallas-born singer-songwriter pulled her fans in with a mix of soul, funk and a sprinkle of hip-hop. Miss Badu was authentic and we loved her from the start. Even her daily wardrobe was something to see.

In the beginning, she was strictly a bohemian goddess with printed wrap dresses, rings and head scarves. As time went on, the chanteuse grew more comfortable in her position as one of the top artists in the neo-soul genre and it showed in her clothing. From top hats to platform shoes, Badu has upped the ante fashion-wise.

At the VH1 'Hip Hop Honors' show in 2006, she rocked a Native American-inspired metallic purple headpiece with a red jumpsuit and glittery magenta boots. The medallion around her neck indicated her hip-hop sensibilities even while playing to her funk influences.
