When Da Brat released her debut album, 'Funkdafied,' in 1994, she quickly soared to the top of the charts, which made her the first female rapper to sell one million albums -- the project was certified platinum.

Following the success of her first album, Brat released 'Anuthatantrum' in 1996. However, she became more well-known for her featured vocals with various artists including Mariah Carey, Destiny's Child and Brandy. The collaboration that Brat is known for most is the remix of 'Ladies Night (Not Tonight),' which brought together Brat, Lil' Kim, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Missy Elliott and Angie Martinez.

She released 'Unrestricted,' which produced two successful singles, 'That's What I'm Looking For' and 'What Chu Like,' and 'Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz' in the early 2000s. After Brat's fourth album, she participated in two reality shows: 'The Surreal Life' and 'Celebrity Fit Club' on VH1. Despite serving jail time for pleading guilty to a nightclub fight, she worked toward reviving her career once she got out despite not being able to lock down a record deal.

The rhymer recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of So So Def by performing 'Funkdafied' and 'Give It 2 You' with Jermaine Dupri in Atlanta. As for new music, she has been in the studio working on new material. Now that she's an independent artist, the possibilities are endless for this veteran emcee.
