Lil Snupe Funeral: Rapper Mourned by Family and Friends in Louisiana

Lil Snupe

Hundreds of mourners gathered this weekend to pay their final respects to Lil Snupe, an up-and-coming rapper who was slain earlier this month in Louisiana.

According to the Shreveport Times, the 18-year-old teen’s funeral was held Saturday (June 29) at Jonesboro-Hodge High School in his hometown of Jonesboro, La.

Family and friends arrived three hours before the service began. A visibly shaken Meek Mill, who signed the rap protege to his Dreamchasers label, was also in attendance wearing dark sunglasses.

“I’m never one to talk (at funerals),” said Mill. “I saw something in him. His demo tape spoke to me. I saw myself in him.”

During the service, a letter was read from Snupe’s biological father, Charlie Brown, who is currently in prison.

“He came from nothing,” he wrote. “He taught the young to never make excuses. When the doors open for me, the world will forever hear Lil’ Snupe!”

Lil Snupe, born Addaren Ross, was shot and killed on June 20 allegedly by Tony Holden over a video game bet in Winnfield, La. The 36-year-old convicted felon turned himself in to police and was booked on three charges: first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

For friends of Lil Snupe, the funeral left them heartbroken, but they vow to never forget about their hometown hero.

“I feel like you take a child’s life…it was precious and it hurts that we have to bury him today,” said Doniquia Smith to “You took away a friend, a son, and an icon to a lot of people.”

Rest in peace, Lil Snupe.
