Nobody can get people moving like Uncle Luke, born Luther Campbell. That's been the case since the 1980s, when he headed the rap group 2 Live Crew. All the basslines heard today that encourage rump-shaking can be credited to Luke and his influence via the Miami bass sub-genre.

Beyond the sound 2 Live Crew inspired, they set precedents on what limitations could or could not be placed on musicians utilizing their right to freedom of speech.

After the release of 1989's 'As Nasty as They Wanna Be' and the success of the single 'Me So Horny,' 2 Live Crew was under fire. The Broward County sheriff had begun arresting retailers for selling the controversial album citing that it was obscene. After a major legal dispute, Luke and 2 Live Crew came out on top and the album sold more units than ever. Rappers have to thank Uncle Luke for way more than the bassline.
