Tupac was an accomplished actor and rapper before he was a Death Row signee, but once he got on Suge Knight's imprint he represented L.A. in a whole new way, particularly in 1996 when he dropped 'All Eyez On Me,' his fourth solo album but the first with the infamous imprint.

'Ambitionz Az a Ridah' is one of the LP's most favored cuts. Here was a more aggressive Pac then we'd known. The production -- done by Daz Dillinger -- proved to be a bit rougher than what G-Funk exhibited only a few years before. But it sounded great. The nod to boom-bap on the track signified growth while the synths that had become synonymous with West Coast hip-hop remained present.

With 'Ambitionz,' Tupac championed the evolving sound of the west.
