Rihanna, Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj Among Billboard Music Awards Finalists

Chart-topping superstars Rihanna, Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj are among the finalists for the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

The event honors artists who have made an impact within the past year on the Billboard music charts.

RiRi was nominated in 10 different categories including Top R&B Artist. The Bajan songbird will have some stiff competition in that category as Alicia Keys, Usher, Chris Brown and Ne-Yo are also up for that award.

“I owe this to my fans and to Billboard! Thank you for the love! It’s pretty major!” Rihanna tweeted

Meanwhile, both Minaj and Flo Rida have been nominated in seven categories each and will be competing for the coveted award for Top Rap Artist.

“So grateful & honored to receive 7 billboard awards nominations...Thank u Billboard & Thank u to everyone who supported in the past year XO," wrote the Queen Barbz.

Other nominees include Keys and Drake with three nods apiece, while Brown, Usher, 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa are up for two awards each.

Fellow Billboard Music Awards nominees Miguel and Bruno Mars are among the first artists booked to perform at the event, which will be hosted by funnyman Tracy Morgan.

ABC will air the Billboard Music Awards live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 19 at 8 p.m. ET.
