Nas, one of hip-hop's most renowned artists, turns 40 on Saturday (Sept.14), but he didn't wait until then to begin the festivities. The 'Life Is Good' rapper celebrated in his hometown of New York City on Thursday night (Sept. 12) at a party filled with multiple famous guests.

God's Son rocked a pink tuxedo as he enjoyed his celebration at Avenue, a posh lounge located in the city's Meatpacking District. Attendees included Mariah Carey (who came wearing a studded sling for her injured arm), Melanie Fiona, Pusha T, Jermaine Dupri, Maino, model Tyson Beckford, Common and many others ranging from Def Jam executives to actors.

The Queensbridge MC invited his family for the festivities as well. His daughter, Destiny Jones, his brother, Jungle, and his jazz musician father, Olu Dara -- who he collaborated with on 2004's 'Bridging the Gap' -- were also in attendance.

Of course, Nas walked away from the celebration with really expensive birthday gifts, including a custom Hublot Classic Fusion watch and an engraved bottle of expensive Hennessy Paradis Imperial courtesy of Hennessy Senior Vice President Rodney Williams. Hennessy sponsored the event.
