Mac Miller’s ‘Donald Trump’ Earns Platinum Accolade

Mac Miller earned his first platinum plaque thanks to his inspirational song, 'Donald Trump.' The track, which appeared on his 2011 mixtape 'Best Day Ever,' has sold over 1 million copies in the U.S., according to Recording Industry Association of America.

The song ignited some controversy between the Pittsburgh rhymer and the song's namesake billionaire Donald Trump. Apparently, the 'Celebrity Apprentice' creator wasn't happy that Miller was making money on the song. “Little @MacMiller, you illegally used my name for your song 'Donald Trump' which now has over 75 million hits," Trump tweeted. "I’m now going to teach you a big boy lesson about lawsuits and finance. You ungrateful dog! I want the money not the plaque you gave me!”

Miller took the high road and responded with the utmost kindness to Mr. Trump. "[I]'m not trying to put any negative energy into the world. @realdonaldtrump let's be friends," he wrote.

No word if Trump and Miller patched things up. If the billionaire mogul catches wind that the song has gone platinum, he might just release his rabid attorneys after him.

In the meantime, Miller is currently working on his second album, 'Watching Movies With the Sound Off.' The set's lead single is reportedly the Flying Lotus-produced tune, 'Somebody Do Somethin'.'
