Kendrick Lamar Hopes to Get Janet Jackson for ‘Poetic Justice’ Video
One of the many standout tracks on Kendrick Lamar's 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' LP is the Drake-assisted rap ballad 'Poetic Justice.' The song's title is lifted from Janet Jackson's 1993 film of the same name and samples her sensuous ballad, 'Any Time, Any Place.'
K. Dot plans to shoot a video for the track and hopes to snag Ms. Jackson for a cameo in the clip. "That'll be a blessing," he told MTV News, before pleading, "Janet, c'mon, Janet. No paperwork with the managers... This is artist to artist. This is a young boy that looked up to you for years. Please, yeah, video, Janet Jackson 'Poetic Justice.' It'll only be right."
We agree! It would be a major coup if Kendrick could score a Janet cameo in the 'Poetic Justice' video. The Compton rapper admired the 'Control' singer growing up in the early 1990s. So after releasing a critically-acclaimed album and gaining respect from his fellow rap peers, the icing on the cake would be Janet seducing King Kendrick in the clip.
Besides a new video, Kendrick also revealed plans to film an accompanying movie to match the movie-like narrative of 'good kid, m.A.A.d city.' "We actually started the visuals for this whole project," he says. "I called it a short film before I even started the actual foundation of the music."
Good luck on getting Janet, Kendrick!
