Kelly Rowland Enters TheDrop.fm’s R&B Sound Off Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Kelly Rowland for being the fourth artist to be inducted into TheDrop.fm's R&B Sound Off Hall of Fame. Not only has she won four consecutive Sound Offs, but she also won them in big numbers.
‘Gone’ is the latest track off Rowland’s new album, ‘Talk a Good Game,’ which debuted last month. Featuring Wiz Khalifa, she sings about leaving a man who doesn’t appreciate her. The track samples Joni Mitchell’s ‘Big Yellow Taxi, which also made an appearance on Janet Jackson's 1997 track, ‘Got ’til It’s Gone.’
“I cleaned the closets so I’m out of your way / You can have your space / Well, I thought I should write a letter but I thought this would be better / There’s a million ways that I could tell ya / But I would rather show ya / It’s over and I won’t be back no more,” she delivers.
Kelly's winning streak started when she went against Beyonce's 'Rise Up' last month. She then easily won the battles with Amel Larrieux's 'Afraid' and Netta Brielle's cover of 'Rain.' She faced off with Melanie Fiona's 'Cold Piece' last week and won that Sound Off with over 90 percent of the vote.
Rowland joins fellow Hall of Famers Ciara, Fantasia and Tamar Braxton.
