Janelle Monae brings in the funk on 'Q.U.E.E.N.,' her first single from her upcoming LP, 'The Electric Lady.' The song feels like a Prince track with his funky synths and rubbery electric guitar work.

On it, the 'ArchAndroid' artist sings emboldening lyrics of empowerment as she questions the double standards between men and women. "Is it peculiar that she twerk in the mirror? / And am I weird to dance alone late at night? (Naw!) / Is it true that we all insane (Yeah!) / I just tell them no we ain't and get down," she sings.

On the chorus, Monae sings, "Am I a freak for messing around? / Am I freak for getting down?" The answer to that is nope.

Near the end of the song, Monae flips the script and spits a powerful rhyme, urging women to not sleep on the issues but to preach against them.

Meanwhile, fellow sister-in-power Erykah Badu backs up Monae with some funky scatting, "Here come the freedom the song / Too strong, we moving on," she sings. "You have to testify / Because the booty don't lie."

She's absolutely right. You are going to shake your booty to this funky track.
