The Inc lives again? Ashanti reveals that she and former collaborator Ja Rule may be working on new music together.

In an interview with Hot 97's morning show, the songstress said that she is in contact with Ja, who just finished a lengthy jail stint. "He is in great spirits… He has a studio downstairs in the house. That’s where he’s gonna be all the time. He’s super excited about the music… Hopefully, we get it all popping," Ashanti said.

Though nothing has been recorded yet, the singer left the door open for future songs. "It’s no denying our chemistry... I mean, he has to focus on his stuff right now. And I gotta focus on mine," she explained.

It's been over a decade since the duo released their hit single, 'Always on Time' in 2001. They collaborated multiple times, including 'Mesmerize' in 2002, and 'Wonderful' with R. Kelly in 2004.

Ashanti’s new album 'BraveHeart' will be released on July 30. She says that she's aiming for a "Top 40-ish" sound.

Outside of music, the singer has appeared on Lifetime's scripted series 'Army Wives.'
