Once upon a time in hip-hop, fans heard about new music videos through the grapevine, then they sat in front of the TV for hours hoping to catch a glimpse of the newest cut from whoever was hot at the time. Big budget directors like Hype Williams and Mr. X collected some sizable checks for their fish-eye shots and movie-quality cuts in the '90s.

In 2013, rappers are everywhere, not only in music videos online, but in every possible scenario that can be recorded outside of personal hygiene. You have to admit, marketing these days is a whole other beast. Rappers' videographers film their every move from the stage to the afterparty to the early morning flight the next day.

Oversaturation should be a concern, but 2013 rappers are already on to the next vlog. Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group and their in-house film crew Andres “Dre Films” Alvarez and SPIFF TV are tireless trendsetters in dreaming up new scenarios to shoot and push incessantly online.
