Starting her career as an actress and model, one would think that there would be a lot of criticism coming LoLa Monroe's way when she decided to switch gears and become a rapper.

However, when she released her series of mixtapes including 'Boss Bitch's World' and 'The Lola Monroe Chronicles: The Art of Motivation' and 'Boss Bitch’s World II: Batteries Not Included,' all the naysayers started to reconsider. Not only were critics impressed by the music, but Monroe also showed off her entrepreneurial skills by starting her own record label and entertainment company called Blue Rose Entertainment.

'Overtime,' which featured Trina, aired on MTV Jams and became the first video BET's '106 & Park' premiered from a independent female rapper. Soon after, she was nominated for BET's Best Female Hip-Hop award in 2011. Wiz Kalifa also scooped her up for his Taylor Gang regime, making her the first female member.

As a new mom -- she just had a baby with Bad Boy rapper Los -- her collaboration with Cassie and Trina, 'All Gold, All Girls,' was recently released.
