Hip-hop wins again! Rapper Wale's third album 'The Gifted' premiered atop the Billboard 200 chart this week. The collection moved 158,000 units in its first week of release, according to Billboard (via Nielsen SoundScan).

The chart achievement marks the DMV rhymer's first No. 1 album of his career. His last effort, 'Ambition,' debuted at No. 2 in November 2011 with 164,000 copies sold.

"Today is a day I want my fans to be extra. proud. We have the #1 album in the country!! Came a long way and still goin. So grateful!" Wale tweeted to his fans. "Talked to jay n Rozay this mornin .. Congratulating on my first #1 Man that's s good feeling when n----s u look up to tell u [you] in a zone!"

Kanye West's 'Yeezus,' which was last week's chart-topper, dipped to No. 3 with 65,000 units sold. However, J. Cole's 'Born Sinner' retains its No. 2 slot moving 84,000 copies.

Which means that fans are embracing Hollywood Cole's album just a little bit more this week. And with his fantastic performance at the 2013 BET Awards Sunday night (June 30), we expect his album will continue to sell in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, fans can catch Wale performing this weekend at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. The MMG rapper will rock the mic during the Family Picnic event on July 6.

Congratulations Wale on earning your first No. 1 album.
