Give it up for Tamar Braxton's smooth track 'The One,' which beat Jennifer Lopez's 'Live It Up' in last week's R&B Sound Off. With 86.85 percent of the vote, Braxton proved that you don't need to have a big club banger to get to the top. Lopez only took 13.15 percent of the votes.

Braxton takes a laid-back and chill approach with ‘The One,’ the new single off her new album, ‘Love and War,’ releasing this summer. Sampling Mtume’s ‘Juicy Fruit,’ the songstress expresses how much she loves her man (aka husband and producer Vincent Herbert) on this smooth track.“I don’t need no one, baby / Without you I’m incomplete / My love is like the ball / Put it all on me,” she sings.

Mario's 'Somebody Else' is this week's opponent. Featuring Nicki Minaj, the new single is produced by Polow Da Don. He hopes to "breathe new life into R&B" with this record. 'Somebody Else,' which is out on iTunes today (May 21), has a strong beat that goes with the heavy-hearted lyrics about a special girl leaving him behind. "You left me for somebody else now / I wish never allowed ya / You left me, baby you left me / Girl, I guess I’ll take it off your love," Mario sings on the chorus.

Minaj's part acts as the female's response on the song -- explaining that the relationship just wasn't working and she had to leave. "Guilty is what you feel now / Left Queens for Brooklyn, I’m on a belt now / Stupid is what you felt now / When you see me on TV have a meltdown," she delivers.

Will Braxton's love song be strong enough to win another week? Or will Mario's heartbreaking tune take over? Vote for your favorite song in the poll below. Remember you can vote once per hour until the poll closes on Tues., May 28, at 10 a.m. ET.
