Another Nina Simone project is in the works. This time, it's a documentary being produced by the Simone estate.

According to Billboard, production company @radical.media will produce the documentary with the help of Simone's daughter and the estate. The film will feature unseen, archived performance footage of Simone throughout her career.

“Nina is right up there with Sinatra, Presley and Dylan as one of the most iconic musical artists of the 20th century," said @radical.media's entertainment president Justin Wilkes in a statement. "Yet, we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of her life’s story. Her family and estate will be invaluable partners as we’ve been given unprecedented access to weave together her fascinating story."

Meanwhile, another biopic on Nina Simone has been completed starring Zoe Saldana as the late High Priestess of Soul. The film's director, Cynthia Mort, has told theGrio.com that they are courting Dr. Dre to produce the score.

In a separate project, comedian-actress Issa Rae has been tapped to play Simone in a biopic about the playwright Lorraine Hansberry who wrote 'A Raisin in the Sun.' Numa Perrier ('The Couple') is penning the script with Hansberry's nephew, Taye, onboard to direct the movie.
