Musiq Soulchild was surprised by a very special guest at his concert last night in Washington, D.C. First Lady Michelle Obama was in the audience for the R&B singer's show at the Howard Theatre.

According to the venue's Facebook page, Ms. Obama came out to watch Musiq's performance in celebration of her friend's birthday. The singer was elated to know one of his fans was the first lady herself. He tweeted a photo with Michelle leaning towards him -- her arm over his shoulder -- and the singer holding up the peace sign while they both smiled ear to ear.

"Thank you for coming, it was an honor and privilege to meet you, I totally appreciate your time and it's just so awesome to know that you support my music!!! #flotus #michelle #obama #howardtheatre #dayinthelife," Musiq wrote to Michelle.

The crooner recently performed in his hometown of Philadelphia at the Blockley earlier this week. He continues to make his way up the East Coast where he will perform at B.B. King Blues Club tonight in New York City.

TheDrop.fm will be in the building covering the event for fans who will miss what's sure to be a great night of R&B.
