The release of Michael Jackson's visual for 'Thriller' is often referred to as the turning point in music video direction.

In 1983, the singer brought his vivid imagination to life in the 13-minute video, which started off as a sweet harmless movie date and turned into zombies popping and locking. These creatures had a lot of soul for dead people. But of course, MJ would be bold enough to dance with them.

From the red motorcycle jacket to the iconic dance routine, 'Thriller' was the first in the line of Michael's many unique videos. Its popularity also broke down racial barriers for black artists who could not air their music videos on MTV before his success.
