Lil Wayne is opening up about his regrets over his 2010 weapons charge and his thoughts about the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.

The Young Money head honcho spoke to 'Jim Rome on Showtime' about his legal run-ins and sports-related topics like the NFL and Shaq's rapping.

"Before I leave, I want to say you mentioned that in 2010, I was locked up for a weapon, Weezy said during the interview. "If there was anything I could do in my life that I could ever change, it'd be that. Sandy Hook Elementary, my heart goes out to you."

In March 2010, Wayne began serving an eight-month prison sentence for pleading guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon -- a gun was found inside his tour bus in 2007.
