Lecrae, Big K.R.I.T. Confess and Preach in ‘Mayday’ Video
Lecrae knew what he was doing when he tapped Mississippi's own lyrical stalwart Big K.R.I.T. for 'Mayday,' a track featured on the Reach Records rapper's 'Gravity' album -- it lands on TheDrop.fm's list of Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2012. Now the two unite for the track's gut-wrenching visuals.Taking place at a funeral service where mothers are weeping, K.R.I.T. and Lecrae do a bit of their own confessing and preaching through their rhymes. The latter gives his rap peer some respect for opening up on the track.
"When I hear Krit confessin’ I respect him / ‘Cause most of us be lying like our lives don't need perfectin’ / Nothin’ that we can muster, nothin’ that we can change / Admitting that we're imperfect, offendin’ God with our games," Lecrae rhymes.
Singer Ashton Jones adds a soulful touch to the effort, singing the hook: "Hopin’, prayin’, sayin’ I can’t turn back now! / He will find you, this world’ll blind you, don’t you be another
Man down!"
