MTV's Hottest MCs list has everyone buzzing (and more often, arguing) but one rapper who supports the countdown is Kendrick Lamar.

K. Dot, who many predict will take the No. 1 or No. 2 spot, told Rap-Up.com that such lists are necessary for the genre.

"It's very important for hip-hop," the Compton lyricist said. "I love that they have debates like that. We need that. It's competitive. Even though we doing these collaborations and stuff like that and we cool, at the same time, this is still rap. It's still competitive and I'm trying to compete with everybody to be the best."

So far, the list has Meek Mill at No. 10, Future at No. 9, A$AP Rocky at No. 8, Kanye West at No. 7 and Big Sean at No. 6. Others featured on the list are Drake at No. 5, Nas at No. 4 and the boss Rick Ross bowing in at No. 3.

Some artists like Pusha T and French Montana didn't even make the list.

With his breakthrough album, 'good kid, m.A.A.d city,' many feel that Kendrick had a bigger year than all of the aforementioned.
