The funeral for the late Chris Kelly of Kris Kross is being held today at Jackson Memorial Baptist Church in Atlanta. According to Billboard, family and friends have already began gathering at an Atlanta funeral home to come together in remembrance of the rapper.

Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri and surviving Kris Kross member Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith showed their respects, TMZ reports. Da Brat even wore her pants backwards to pay homage to Kelly. Singers Keke Wyatt and two members of Xscape are performing at the funeral.

"I know Chris is in heaven," Smith said through tears. "He was a true friend. I just wanna say I love you man ... and I'm gonna miss you dearly. My life ... it ain't ever gonna be the same, but I just hope our legacy for hip-hop is never forgotten. I'm gonna do my part to make sure Chris' legacy will live on."

Kelly passed away of a likely overdose at the age of 34 last week, after enjoying success again following a reunion performance of 'Jump' at So So Def's 25th reunion earlier this year.

Jermaine Dupri, who produced Kris Kross' 1992 hit 'Jump,' wrote in an open letter that Kelly "was the son I never had.”
