Chris Brown gave out free Reebok sneakers to hundreds of kids at Roy Campanella Park in Compton, Calif., over the weekend while wearing a "For Trayvon" T-shirt.

As part of the singer's "WE US: Walk Everywhere in Unity's Shoes" campaign, the gathering on Saturday (July 20) was in conjunction with the nationwide vigil for Trayvon Martin. The Chris Brown Channel was there to capture the unity event.

Joining Breezy was the Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Guillermo Cespedes, local youth organizations and the LAPD, who made sure the event was peaceful and orderly.

"WE US! Thankful for all of the people who came together to help give back today!" tweeted Brown. "A big thank you to LA Deputy Mayor Cespedes, Skipp, Big U and the LAPD for making this campaign safe and successful!"

As for the T-shirt, which celebrities like Jamie Foxx have worn at award shows, you can cop one at ForTrayvon.com. Proceeds from the sales of the tee will go to the Trayvon Martin and I Am Ready foundations, which help establish community programs for youth.

It's good to see Chris Brown give back to his community. We need more artists to follow the same path.
