89: Susan Feroz – Powerful Women of 2013

Messages in hip-hop can take on many forms. And for Susan Feroz, hip-hop is her way of explaining the plight of her people. Born in Afghanistan and raised in Iran, Feroz is Afghanistan's first female rapper.

Wanting to express the hardships her family and others have gone through living in exile, she recorded 'Our Neighbors,' which was her first recorded song to gain her recognition.

Despite the controversies about being a female rapper in that part of the world, Feroz has no intention to stop what she's doing. And as her career continues to grow, we're bound to hear more from this budding rapper.
