Phil Ade Brings Maryland Vibes to New York with R.O.S.E. Tour [EXCLUSIVE]
Hot off the release of his project (better known as his latest mixtape), 'R.O.S.E., Phil Ade turned up the heat at the Studio at Webster Hall in New York City last night (Aug. 12). Featuring Kid Daytona as a co-headliner, this was definitely not an average Monday night affair.
"That's what I'm ready for is a motherf---ing party tonight!" the D.C. rapper announced during his set. "If you got a dream and you know you got a dream, put one finger in the sky."
Hosted by Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg and DJ Juanyto, Ade brought just about the entire 'R.O.S.E.' tracklist to the stage including 'P.O.P Music,' 'Gone,' '2 A.M.' and 'Break Me Off.' The set's energy went to another level when Englewood, Calif., rapper Sean Chrystopher joined the performance. And although it looked like they were battling each other at some point, the dynamic between the two was clearly all love and respect.
And the feeling was also something Ade felt from the crowd. He couldn't wait till the end of his set to say, "I wanna take the time to really thank y'all for coming out. People like ya'll coming out to support people like me and Shawn Chrystopher. That's real talk, some real s---."
Before Ade took the stage, the crowd was treated to other new talent including Face 49 from Newark, N.J.; Boston's Avenue; AUDUBON, who hails from Washington Heights, N.Y.; and Chrystopher.
Representing the Bronx, N.Y., the Kid Daytona brought his own vibe and grit to the stage with a series of tracks including a few new ones from his upcoming release, 'Savoir Faire,' set to drop in the fall. While it was obvious that everyone was loving the new works, they got even more excited when he started throwing free swag provided by French clothing company, Space Monkey -- one of Daytona's sponsors.
