Jay-Z Talks Music and Politics with Bill Maher

Before Jay-Z premiered his exciting performance film ‘Picasso Baby,’ the rap mogul sat down for a chat on HBO’s ‘Real Time with Bill Maher.’ Hov and Maher discussed a myriad of topics including his tiff with Harry Belafonte.

Maher was curious about the rapper’s song ‘Tom Ford,’ and crudely asked him, “I’m sure some people are thinking, why is he on some white gay designer’s d—?”

Jay laughed and responded with a “pause.”

Of course, the song is a metaphoric anthem in that Hov would rather stay fresh and clean then pop drugs all day long.

As for the Harry Belafonte controversy, Jay-Z explained to Maher that he didn’t appreciate his attack of him in the media when all he had to do was pick up the phone.

“I didn’t think it was the correct venue. If it was a real problem, I’m not very difficult to find,” he said. “I didn’t appreciate that, especially dragging my wife into it was a bit of a low blow.”

Jay-Z later joined the panel to discuss violence in urban cities and the polarizing issue of stop-and-frisk policing in New York.

The ‘Holy Grail’ emcee held his own with the contentious pundits, including politician Barney Frank.
