Starting her career as a spoken word artist, Jill Scott moved to music with the help of Questlove, who then co-wrote 'You Got Me' for Erykah Badu and the Roots. After that song won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for a Duo or Group, she started collaborating with Will Smith, Eric Benet and Common.

She finally released her debut album, 'Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1' in 2000. Scott has since released three more albums and won three Grammy awards for her work.

Aside from her musical prowess, Scott also found a place on the big and small screen and has acted in a number of projects including both installments of Tyler Perry's 'Why Did I Get Married?, HBO's 'The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency' and recently was enlisted to star in a new CBS pilot, 'Second Sight.' Of course, she's also in the studio working on new music.
