We haven’t heard from Jill Scott musically, but acting-wise, she’s on her grind. The multi-talented singer has signed on to star in the CBS pilot ‘Second Sight.’

According to Deadline, the Philadelphia native will join Jason Lee and Derek Luke in the cop drama. The series is about a New Orleans detective named Ross Tanner (Lee) who has an ocular disorder that causes him to have terrifying visions. He soon discovers that catching a killer depends more on his eyesight than his insight. Scott plays his eye doctor, Dr. Callier, who helps Tanner with his unique disorder.

This will be Scott’s first television gig since her performance on HBO’s ‘The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.’ The 40-year-old singer-actress recently appeared on an episode of ‘Fringe’ and Lifetime’s television movie, ‘Steel Magnolias.’

As far as the big screen, you can see Scott in the David E. Talbert film ‘Baggage Claim,’ which flies into theaters Oct. 25.
