The 2000s just left us. But as we know, time in hip-hop is much shorter than dog years. If we were to transport ourselves back to 2000, we'll hear a whole different sound dominating the airwaves. In the midst of this nostalgia, we'll also notice the rise of southern hip-hop in the mainstream and just like the region's food, it eventually stuck to our ribs.

Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem released their most classic material during this time, Game, Lil Wayne and T.I. were on the rise as lasting figures in hip-hop and, sadly, there was the last of OutKast as we knew them.
