Waka Flocka Flame Stands Firm on His Remarks About Caitlyn Jenner: She’s ‘Rebuking God’
Rapper Waka Flocka Flame has found himself in some controversy over remarks he made about Caitlyn Jenner and the transgender community.
During his interview with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, the “Hard In the Paint” rhymer was concern with the transgender was being marketed to the youth. Waka felt that Jenner, who is probably the most famous transgender person in the world, is “rebuking God” and letting the devil play with his mind. He added that corporate America is marketing the 65-year-old former Olympian as a superhero.
"I ain't got nothing against anybody's preferences, but putting it on TV, that's crazy, man," he said. "I ain't saying nothing against like a Bruce Jenner, you follow me, you are who you are when God made you, not who you became after he did. That's how I just feel. You rebuking God."
"God ain't put them feelings in you, that's the devil playing tricks on your mind. That's a test from God," he continued.
The backlash was swift on social media with people upset with the Brick Squad leader's comments. "You're going to judge Bruce for becoming Caitlyn when you changed your name from Juaquin James to Waka Flocka Flame yo? Lmao gtf outta here," tweeted one person.
Waka went on his Twitter account to clarify his remarks. Although he did apologize for using the word "evil" when referring to the transgender community, he didn't stood by his original statement that transgender is being marketed to young people.
"I have nothing against transgender people. I simply feel we need to be careful what our children see as 'sensationalized,'" he tweeted.
"I'M NOT HOMOPHOBIC I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST THE GAY COMMUNITY. I'M STILL STANDING ON WHAT I SAID...I'M NOT A FAN OF TRANSGENDERS MARKETED LIKE A SUPERHERO," he added.
