The Supremes Land 12th No.1 Single on Billboard Hot 100 – Black History Month
The Supremes were the hottest American group in the world during the 1960s. This Motown-trio ruled the decade, having at least one No. 1 single on the Billboard charts every year between 1964 and 1969.
These hits included 'Baby Love' (1964), 'Back in My Arms Again' (1965), and 'You Can't Hurry Love' (1966) -- well-known songs today.
In November 1969, they released 'Someday We'll Be Together,' a remake to a song written and performed by Johnny Bristol in 1961.
Their rendition peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, giving them their 12th No. 1 single and ultimately their last. Today, no other American group has surpassed their record.
