Rich Gang Party at Album Listening Session in New York City [PHOTOS]
In celebration of Rich Gang's debut album members of the Young Money and Cash Money super group -- and their affiliates -- gathered at the grapefruit-lit Bagatelle in New York City on Monday (July 22) to give journalists, bloggers and the like a chance to listen to the project.
The event kicked off at 7PM with DJ SNS spinning throwback Cash Money records along with recent hits by the Young Money crew. Birdman, Lil Wayne and Bow Wow made their entrance around 9:30PM and stood on couches for the duration of the evening. Busta Rhymes, DJ Khaled and Ace Hood were also in the building.
'Rich Gang,' which officially drops today, is the first compilation album from Young Money and Cash Money. Thus far, the effort has been led by the sexed-up single 'Tap Out' featuring Birdman, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Mack Maine and Future and the newly released straight-no-chaser 'Panties to the Side,' which features French Montana, who made an appearance at the event as well. A drink at the listening session was also named after the song.
The R. Kelly-led 'We Been On' is a stunt heavy tale about coming up from "red cups" to "gold bottles" and stealing a man's girl. On the Kendrick Lamar-assisted '100 Favors,' the rappers send their rhymes of appreciation to the loyal ones.
The crew's new LP is a blend of Auto-Tune, melodic hooks and a recycled bouncing of money-throwing, turn up anthems live from the club, bedroom or wherever you can get away with it.
After being pushed back since May, 'Rich Gang' is here with features from Chris Brown, Flo Rida and even Mystikal. Though pumped with big names, the absence of Drake from the project isn't easily overlooked.
