The Oscars are known for being the most formal awards ceremony. But last year the show brought some refreshing buzz when Pharrell Williams announced he was assisting in scoring the show's music.

Williams collaborated with film  composer Hans Zimmer for the duty. He landed the gig after he built a friendship with Zimmer and was a fan of his work.

Although it was a team effort, Zimmer told the LA Times that skateboard P led the direction of the music. "My role was minor, more of a safety net," he said. "Pharrell knows everything and has just impeccable taste.
