Mali Music Aims to Inspire with ‘Food for the Soul’
R&B singer Mali Music is a fighter. On his latest single, 'Ready Aim,' he sings of battling vices that want to destroy him, but he’s not scared. Instead, he welcomes the challenge, boldly singing, "Ready, aim, fire. You can’t shoot me down."
Mali Music, real name Jamaal Pollard, is on a crusade to inspire people with his music, which he describes as "food for the soul." His sound is a mixture of gospel, R&B and rock.
The Savannah, Ga., native has been inspiring folks since 2009, as a gospel artist. His debut album, '2econd Coming,' is an uplifting collection of positive affirmations in his faith.
In 2011, he signed with Akon's Konvict Muzik where he released two spiritual tunes, 'That Name' and 'Walk on Water.' Unfortunately, nothing further came out of the partnership.
Currently signed to Bystorm Entertainment/RCA Records, Mali Music is bringing love and spirituality to the R&B game. His sampler, 'Mali Is...' is a great introduction to his soulful and spiritual sound.
On the fantastic piano-drive ballad 'Beautiful,' Mali Music sings of a higher love.
"I'm amazed by all your strength, I am / And I'm grateful that you come through / So I take this time stop a moment and show my gratitude," he croons.
On the cautionary 'No Fun Alone,' the singer warns of the downside of fame and fortune.
"It gets cold at the top / Make sure somebody loves ya / You can feel alone in the spotlight / Make sure somebody cares for ya / Somebody's there for ya / It's no fun alone," he sings.
Mali Music is currently on the road opening for fellow singer Raheem DeVaughn's Loveland Tour. To check out the itinerary, click here.
